Eeeek! I can’t believe it’s the last day of August already!!! Well, I figured I’d end the month off with a bit of appreciation. For those of you who visit my blog…for those of you who admire my work…for those of you who leave supportive comments…these photos are for YOU!

TAB, Day 30
With only a couple of days left in The August Break, I thought I’d try something a little different today. As I was looking over my photos, I realized I had SEVERAL that had not “made the cut”, but that still said something interesting to me. So, I thought I’d mini-mosaic them.
As you may know, we got back last week to a very broken bird bath.
And while it didn’t warrant a whole post, I liked the little mosaic idea.
So I decided to try it with some of my garden produce photos.
Mmmmm…yummy!
As I was trying to figure out a third set, my son asked for Kool-Aid.
And sometimes it’s just easier to say yes than to put him off again.
Ack! I can’t believe that tomorrow is the last day! *sigh*

TAB, Day 29
Yesterday afternoon revolved around eating yummy things.
First, there was a gigantic bowl of popcorn for watching a movie.
And then, I made some fresh-from-the-garden apple-carrot-ginger juice. That stuff packs a punch! Who needs coffee in the morning?
And lastly, there was fresh-from-the-garden veggie eggs. Brinner!
I went out to the garden to document the broken bird bath – we found it this way after our trip away. Must have been one big-arsed bird.
Naturally, I got distracted by the pretty fall colours. Oooh – but brrr!
Also disheartened by the abundance of thistles that keep returning.
So, I just put my “rose-coloured glasses” back on and everything was fine again. Hurray for weekends!

TAB, Day 28
The boys and I decided to go on a picnic lunch at a nearby park yesterday. It was ridiculously windy, but we had a lot of fun nonetheless. Sadly, the baby needed constant supervision, which meant there were no “arty” photo opportunities. So, I guess it’s family picture day today – woohoo!
The baby is learning to appreciate the swing finally…wheee!
After going “giddy up” for a bit, he fed the horse some rocks – yum.
In fact, the afternoon kind of focused around the rocks for him. *sigh*
The eldest found some chums to play with and was scarcely seen.
Just chillin’ together at snack time, lazily watching the world go by.
Not a bad way to spend the afternoon, I must admit.

TAB, Day 27
Some more backyard and “last light of the day” shots for today.
Found this leaf in the grass and marveled at the rocky colours.
Good time to snap the birdhouse that my son loved playing with.
He spent hours putting the fake eggs in…and taking them out…
The sun was playing hide-and-seek in the clouds last night.
I took to the back alley again and found this escaping clematis.
And this farm-style fence (a nice change of pace in the city).
Somebody put sunflower seeds in their bird feeder…messy birds. ![]()
Wild clematis was clinging to another fence…all soft and feathery.
And just for a comparison, here is the morning light in my yard. Still pretty, but different somehow – cooler, crisper…
Well, that’s more than enough for today, I think. Hope you all have a great weekend!

TAB, Day 26
A lot of odds-and-ends to do today, including going to get a haircut… which left little time to play photographically. Ah, well. That’s how it goes sometimes. Here are a few for today anyhow.
Daddy still has hopes for a football star in the family. (Ahh… the light of a setting sun… some of my favourite!)
Our eldest and his friend from next door doing “experiments” today.
A close up Kate.
The haircut (for those who are interested in that sort of thing).
Playing with lens flare. And big glasses, apparently (teeheehee).

TAB, Day 25
Last night after dinner, we were playing in the back yard…
Under the watchful eyes of the Peanut Gallery (I tweaked hue here).
Apparently, it was time to start harvesting some of our apples.
One layer…two…three…more?! And there are still some on the tree!
An apple for the teacher…the apple of my eye…the Big Apple…
And, of course, sunflowers busily making seeds.
I thought I’d try shooting for the moon…talk about underexposed!
And then I finished with a little candle light experiment. Woohoo!

TAB, Day 24
Some Clematis shots for today. Morning, noon, and night.
I love how these Clematis flowers are showier on the underside.
Though the white blossoms are lovely against our porch posts.
I tried the “spycam” under the light of the moon – grainy, but good.

TAB, Day 23
I am noticing that my “spycam” is starting to drop more and more pixels, and while playing around with editing features on my computer, I tried hitting “remove dust” under photo repair – except I chose the largest possible dust setting…and this is what happened. I though it was really cool, so I thought I would keep it for today. Here’s to the bleary-eyed day-after-vacation haze of settling back in.
Nothing like a mountain of laundry to do after your vacation.

Mini-Vacation, Day 3
Sunday morning arrived bright and early for us. Well, for three of us, as I quietly amused the boys and let my tired husband sleep in a bit.
Our eldest making “Talking Carl” sing kid songs on the iPhone.
I tried, Keith…really, I tried! But my baby doesn’t “get” staying still.
Though I DO get it, I’m not as cute first thing in the am, and sick… ![]()
Soon the baby discovers the way out to the porch…
And a game of in-and-out-and-in-and-out ensues.
Hey, wait a minute…this wasn’t part of the deal!
We got packed up and went for one last swim – using the robe!
Time to check out and hit the road.
Now, where did I leave the car?
One last “Flower Boy” shot for the books.
And I FINALLY ask to stop and take a photo of this sign post.
We stop in Invermere for something to eat – at least for the adults.
Oh, how I wish my children enjoyed eating something healthy.
Then it was time to head home – toward somewhat ominous sky.
Still a beautiful ride, in spite of the rain.
I especially loved the Fireweed in the new growth areas.
The boys napped, and when we hit Canmore we got out to stretch.
The weather was momentarily clearing…
So I took lots of scenics, especially for my friend Jenny…
Who lived here for a year before returning to Australia. We miss you!
One last shot before it clouded over again and we returned home.
Vacations are always a lot of work with little ones, but the time away without having to worry about cooking or cleaning or other odds-and-ends is well worth the effort. Especially with gorgeous nature opportunities such as these, and a fun family such as mine.
