Page Layouts, Crisp
For whatever reason, I love taking lots and lots and lots of photos. And when it comes time to scrapbook them, I would much rather include several of them to tell a story than write excessive text. I also tend to gravitate towards a simple presentation of the photos, which flies in the face of traditional scrapbooking, I know – but oh, well. My books, my way. Here are a few of the layouts that I have come to appreciate over the years.
When my first son was born, I couldn’t stop taking photos of him. I was amazed at just how many different expressions he had at such an early age.
The “Brady Bunch” is a great way to display several photos that don’t need any further explanation.
But it’s also easy enough to shift things over just a little bit to make the presentation look a little more…arty.
Adding a nice title and a little text can change the look of it too.
Of course, if there is more to say and show, a 4×4 works well too.
When I want to get away from the completely square thing, I break things up this way sometimes.
Which, again, can be altered with graphics and titles.
But my top three quick-and-dirty page layouts are… #3
For an end of the month, odds’n'ends type summary – the 2×2. Large photos, pretty paper backings…what’s not to like?
I add one square of text dedicated to highlights for the month.
Though, sometimes I will dedicate just one event to this layout.
Here, the text is just some of the things we would say at the park.
#2
The “L”, which has 4 photos total, but features one of them, and has a space for some good text. (It also works sideways.)
I say, let the paper do the work for you.
#1
The “sandwich”. Two bands of photos, lots of room for middle text.
Sometimes I shift things and put a title at the side instead.
But I always try to make the paper do most of the work.
Anyhow. Nothing terribly revolutionary or creative here, but as I said…lots and lots and lots of photos. And VERY little time.
