August Break 2011 – Day 5

August Break 2011 – Day 5

Today, I sent the kids out with the babysitter and did a photo shoot for my mermaid project (hopefully you’ll see the outcome of this some day soon…) Anyhow. After I was done that shoot, I decided not to let my makeup go to waste – it is so rare that I use the stuff, I figured I’d better get my money’s worth. 😉 I remembered that McCabe Russell, a different Dancing Mermaid (see my Creative Inspirations list to the right), had done some photos of painted words on bodies, and I’ve really been wanting to take some for myself and to send to her, but it was too late to call a friend to come over. So, I wrote out some words, held them up in the mirror, and did my best to paint myself… I took a few self-portraits and then played around in Pixlr-o-matic again, and voila… Day 5 magic!

This was done with the “Antonio” filter and “Glitter” texture, but I had to rotate the image to the right before loading it to get the glitter mostly where I wanted it…

I also liked the “twinkle” texture, which I had to rotate the image to the left for, so everything would kinda line up…

As well as the “divine” texture, which was okay straight on.

All this rotating of images made me realize that I really need to learn how to layer my own textures, so I am not as dependent upon these “chance” alignments, and so I can put stuff where I really want it. But that will happen in time, I suppose. Besides, where’s the magic in that? 😉
