Catching Up

Catching Up

So many photos to go through, so little time… Today, for example, I spent trying to catch up in the garden – taking the last of the produce in before the snow flies, doing some last ditch weeding, and putting all the assorted toys, planters, furniture, water features, bikes, etc. away. I managed to snap a few pics, so rather than go through the hundreds I took at Monkeyboy Junior’s sleep away camp with Beavers, or the backlog of other shots I’ve got, here are a few from today. Whew. I think I’m going to need a long, hot bath after this one.

Trimming back the rose bushes.

Bringing in the statuary.

Harvesting the leeks – I love how they look tropical almost.

Rounding up the sunflower seeds for the birds (or more likely mice).

Treasure hunting for potatoes. Yummy.

I always forget just how much work it is to get things ready for the winter. In the spring, you do things a little at a time – take out the cushions one day, plant some hanging baskets the next, get the fountain running on another. Nice and slow. But by the time September/October hits, I have usually completely forgotten about my garden – until I realize that the snow is coming and things had better get done – and fast! It’s a relief to finally have it all cozy and ready for winter, and now I can turn my attention to indoor projects once more – guilt free. Well, I hope you enjoyed your time outside this spring/summer/fall as much as I did. Now, bring on the cocoa!

    1. I only do it because I haven’t in the past – and then I’ve had to replace things that got destroyed by the winter weather. As for the veggies, I picked that up from my grandmother – she used to have this giant veggie garden and I loooved it so much, I had to make my own. =)
