August Break 2012 – Day 8

August Break 2012 – Day 8

While I was working on my gratitude collage yesterday, Monkeyboy Jr. decided he wanted to set up a Kool-Aid stand. He found a box in the garage, dug out some paper, markers, scissors, and tape, and got to work. After lunch, we made some of the Lemon-Lime mix together, and I helped him take all of his gear to the corner – where he figured there was more “traffic”.

He came back about an hour later with $4.75 in his “cash box” and he was ecstatic. We made a second batch of Kool-Aid, and I helped him take it back out to his stand.

Surprisingly, the clouds didn’t scare away customers, and an hour after that, he’d made a total of $9 (with tips) – which is exactly what he needed to get a yellow Yoshi that he wanted. There is still half a litre of the vibrant green sugar water in my fridge, if anybody is interested…

While Monkeyboy Jr. was being all entrepreneurial, I was puttering around in the front garden – weeding, watering, and picking some Saskatoon berries. Yum! No worries, I made sure to leave enough for the birds to enjoy some too.

This morning, I was admiring the light filtering through my bedroom window when I was greeted by Monkeyboy Junior Jr. I grabbed my camera and snapped some sleepy shots of him.

And as he started waking up and jumping up and down, I smiled. The mornings of lazing quietly in bed are a few more years off, I’m thinking. 😉

  1. Lemon aid/kool-aid stands are a pretty regular part of our summer. Its part of making the best out of the fact we live on a really busy road. They get so happy when they sell some don’t they? I love the bed head pic!

    1. Soooo excited! Monkeyboy Jr. has had a fascination with lemon aid stands since he was little, and we set one up in the kitchen. This was the first time I let him go beyond our little alcove of street. He’s a little entrepreneur, that’s for sure. 😉
