August Break 2013

August Break 2013

It’s that time once again! Time to set aside my usual “agenda” (or rather, postpone getting back to it for even longer, as the case may be) and do something I love just for the fun of it.

August Break 2013

This will be the fourth year that I’ve participated in Susannah Conway’s August Break, and I’m very, VERY excited. In 2010, I primarily focused on disciplining myself to take a photo (or more) a day, which was challenging with a one-year-old in tow. In 2011, I decided to play around with some online editing programs to add some punch to my photography (a practice that I still absolutely adore, although I tend to use Photoshop Elements and various iPhone apps nowadays). In 2012, my challenge was to ONLY use my new 50mm prime lens for the month (with some exceptions made for a wedding we attended). And this year… it appears that I don’t have to come up with a self-imposed challenge at all – Susannah has posted a daily photo prompt list, which is *totally* something I’ve been wanting to try my hand at, but just haven’t gotten around to yet! (Of course, a month of black-and-white shots was on the table… but I like the list better, as it seems a waste to shoot b/w in one of the few months when we have so much colour to enjoy!) Even though the list is my “challenge”, I may go a step beyond SOOC shots and see what transpires…

Daily Prompt LIst

I noticed that the 5 senses have been represented in the list – and “taste” twice. So, I’m thinking that I may just have to change the second one, #20 to “feel” – in that “sixth sense” kinda way, but without the seeing dead people thing… maybe. Anyhow. I’ll be posting daily photos here starting on August 1st, and if you’d like to join in, visit Susannah’s page. If you’d like to check out contributions from other participants, you can head to the Flickr group as well.

Selfie At Sale

For those of you who don’t yet know me, this is me at a craft sale held on Canada Day this year – in which (after expenses) I raised $150 by selling my Wares, to help out people who had been affected by the recent flooding in my province. Woot! Alrighty. Let’s go!!!
