August Break 2015 – Week One
August is here. The days are getting noticeably shorter, the boys are starting to want to get back to school (well, to their friends and routine at least), and I am enjoying being lazy about just about everything. Recognizing that it has been a long, LONG time since I’ve blogged, I decided to once again jump in with Susannah Conway’s August Break challenge. Year six, I believe. Although many of the prompts are the same/similar to those from last year, I suppose that offers a different challenge in and of itself. So, here goes. Peppered with other images from my daily photographic gratitude journal. Enjoy. =)
O N E: breakfast. Scrambled ggs with roasted bell peppers and fresh garden chard, with a side of organic blue corn chips. Yum!
Guess what we finally did? We got a hot tub! To celebrate and reward ourselves for hours upon hours of hard work and dedication. Here are my boys with our very first guests. I’ve gotta say, it’s pretty freaking f a b u l o u s!
T W O: air. Before I meditate, I sage smudge. I often try to see images in the smoke. This day offered up a bird. Can you see it too?
Warm weather means it’s time to once again hit Skyline Luge. Here are my boys, all ready to race. Gosh, they’re getting so big!
T H R E E: skin. Isn’t it funny how it takes a good three or four decades for you to get really comfortable in your own skin – just in time for that skin to start wrinkling and sagging all over the place? So wasted on the young. Sigh…
Can I just say how much I love the Kids Bowl Free program? Although, it is rather humbling when they proceed to wipe the floor with you… gutter bumpers up and everything. 😉
F I V E: citrus. Nothing refreshes quite like an orange bowl of juicy bites after a delicious meal from Sushi Boat.
Except maybe some apples, freshly picked from the tree in your own back yard. Time to get out the juicer and the dehydrator, I’m thinking.Â
S I X: notebook. When I think of a notebook, it’s more of a “throw away” item filled with scribbled down ideas, things I want to remember, and several “to do” items. It differs from a journal, in my mind, of which I always have several on the go…
After two days of large parts of our city being battered by hail, I decided to count my blessings that this year (if not others) we’ve thus far been spared. Ahhhh… Clockwise: petunia, echinacea, lily, rose.
S E V E N: 5 facts about me. Ok. Canadian. Wife. Mother. Two boys. Two girl dogs. Gardener. Love pink in my hair. Used to work at a bird sanctuary. Enjoy creating things… And clearly, I can’t count. 😉
Naturally, when you find a box of beautiful sunflowers, you make your boys pose for a photo. And when at least one of them has eyes-closed in each picture, you cut and paste to “get the gist”. 😉
Funny how the whole “taking it easy” for August Break is turning out to be just the opposite – I’m working on another blog post right now… Silly me. Anyhow. Hope you are having a fabulous summer!
