Up again with a very upset Monkeyboy Junior Jr. last night. From 1am-3:30am this time. *yawn* Thought I’d take some of the Charm Lady’s advice that I happened to be reading at 2am (via Eckhart Tolle) and surrender to what is. So, I grabbed my camera and snapped a few of the solar lights we have on our back deck.

Using some brightening and softening in Picnik, and the nolaroid frame from Pixlr-o-matic.
I would have rather been sleeping, but hey, a cute photo to remember it all by isn’t so bad either I suppose.

(Note: I wrote this yesterday, when I was infinitely more coherent than I am right now… Oh, sleep, how I miss you.)
Okay. As I mentioned, I found a new (to me) online editing site yesterday called Rollip. Although it’s not as easy to navigate as some of the other sites I’ve been using, it still has some great effects – although the filters are more subtle in most cases. It’s also a little different to use. There are 10 pages, each with 4 effects to choose from. First you choose your effect *then* you upload your picture. With no preview, which kind of sucks. Even the names of these effects are subtle, so I’ve just decided to call them TL (top, left), TR (top, right), BL (bottom, left) and BR (bottom, right) on any given page… Make sense? I think you’ll have to head over there and see for yourself.
Anyhow. Here is a photo of myself that I took a little while back. (Dreaming of sleep, dontcha know…)

And here it is with a schwack of filters.

Classics page, BR effect.

Vintage page, BR effect.

Added character page, BR effect.

BW sepia page, BR effect.

Styled lenses page, BR effect.

Glows page, BL effect.

Extreme stylized page, BL effect.

Bold tones page, TR effect.
Wow. And that’s just 8 of the 40 filters you can choose from! Anyhow. Something new to play with. I’m still looking for a site other than Pixlr-o-matic that offers some cool framing to go with these images. If I find it, I’ll let you know.

Well, we were up with Monkeyboy Junior Jr. from about 1am – 2:30am last night… plus a couple of briefer times around that… and on top of that, he’s got the hiccups today, which means all heck is gonna break loose regarding his belly over the next day or two… *le heavy sigh* Needless to say, it’s not a great day to get out and about and take some fabulous pics – I’m trying to reserve what little energy I have left for what is to come… Anyhow. Just a quick snap of some garden goodies that didn’t get destroyed by the hail storms. Sadly, they don’t stay this lovely purple colour when you cook them…

Straight shot of some lovely purple beans I grew…

… and the edited version, just for some comparison. Done in Pixlr-o-matic, using the “hagrid” effect and the sloppy frame.
In other news, I just found a brand new (well, to me, at least) online editing site that I’m going to play around with and see what it can do. Tune in tomorrow for some fun! (Assuming I’m not a complete and total wreck, that is…

Another rough night with Monkeyboy Junior Jr. last night, so I figured I’d just play around with some of my sunflower pics that I took a few days ago and take the pressure off of trying to capture something great today… Can I just say again how much I lovelovelove these online editing programs???

Pixlromatic, “melissa” effect, round frame. Softness by the flare.
With the next one, I really wanted to make the star-shaped stamens stand out more, so it took a little more processing than usual…

Pixlromatic, “hagrid” effect. Then over to Picnik for some localized focal softening. Then back to Pixlromatic for a final “josh” effect and a cornered frame. Whew. But totally worth it. I can’t believe I never noticed that they were this shape before…
And we’ll end today’s post with a little romance…

Pixlromatic, “juila” effect, grunge frame.
Whew. Okay. That was fun. Is it nap time yet?

Went out for sushi for date night last night (yummm, by the way!), and on our way home I was peeking between some buildings and saw some AMAZING sky. The kind that literally takes your breath away for a moment. I made my husband stop the car and I ran back to get a better view and snap some pics. To show you just how amazing it was, I have NOT touched up any of these photos with “effects” or “textures” or whatever. This is pure mother nature magic…

I got some foliage in the picture to give a better idea of the colours…

And I wasn’t the only one stopping and staring. This is just one of the three people I saw snapping pics, and of the dozen who were just standing in the parking lot gawking…

After a while, I thought it best to get back in the car and head home to the babysitter, and the sky followed us home for a while…

Awesome…

Of course, if I *did* put it through Pixlromatic, it might end up looking something like this…

“Hagrid” effect, smoke frame.
Pretty awesome, huh? Well, I hope y’all have yourselves a great weekend and may mother nature shine a little magic on you.

Busy day with Monkeyboy Junior today. His turn at the dentist, a bowling playdate with some friends, and then some back-to-school shopping. Just in time, too. I don’t think his shoes could have made it much longer…

Pixlr-o-matic, “anne” effect, dirt frame.

My friend Kat came over last night to help me with my “painted words on bodies” efforts. As with Jen Lynn, we talked about what word(s) Kat would like to focus on, and she told me that she has a mantra she uses. To sum it up, we played with words like “glow” and “shine”, but finally decided on the word “radiate”. And even though we chose to also paint it on her chest, I think we came up with a very different feel than the shots I took with Jen Lynn. Thanks to a little field trip to Nose Hill… What do you think?

Pixlr-o-matic, “julia” effect, round frame.

Pixlr-o-matic, “anne” effect, grunge frame.

Pixlr-o-matic, “sara” effect, perga frame.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… dang, I have hot friends! I think I need to find a mantra of my own. It seems to do wonders for one’s internal glow.

Found a butterfly under the kitchen table today. No idea when it got inside the house, but I’m glad I found it before the dog ate it. Thought I’d play with some focus today – trying out really low apertures with my macro lens. I had to pull out the tripod even! Anyhow. It was fun and I really like the different moods you can create with such things…

Highlights and shadows tweaked in Picnik, vignette added.

Colours adjusted in Picnik, matte added, bit of transparency after.

Sepia added in Picnik.
And that was that. =)

I can’t believe we’re almost halfway done! Where does the time go??? Well, this morning I went out in the garden before the rains came and snapped some pics. Then this afternoon I played around in my top three fave online editing programs to come up with these…

Via Pilxr-o-matic – antonio effect, ground frame.

Via Picnik – adjusted highlights and shadows, 1960s effect.

Via Polaroin – blue channel, with vignetting.
I tried to do some layering in Picnik, but was horriblyhorriblyhorribly lost and have absolutely nothing to show for it. Ah, well. Win some, lose some I guess.
